Camagüey Chooses First Direct Delegate to UJC Congress PDF Print E-mail

Indira is the first direct delegate representing Camaguey to the 9th Congress of the UJC.Camagüey,  Nov 18 - The Young Communist League (UJC), in this province, already has  its first direct delegate to the 9th Congress of this organization, an honor conferred to B.Ph. Indira Mariño Batista, secretary of the Committee of the UJC in the University of Camaguey, who received an unanimous approval through direct and secret vote by students and staff of this high teaching institution.



More than 2 thousand daytime course students attend the University of Camaguey, which is the first institution of its type created by the Revolution. These students, organized in grass-root cells, underwent a democratic process promoting the best students or young professionals to the event, Indira was decided at the polls.

Mariño Batista, who has a Bachelor degree in Philosophy, shows an out-standing résumé as student and as a mid-level leader of the UJC, and has been an example for her comrades, enjoying the ncessaary authority and morality to demand the fulfillment of any duty and obligation to other members of her organization.

Indira says that inside the organization she has reached maturity as a Revolutionary young woman of the current times; which "demand from us a major contribution, a genuine commitment in order to continue the work that our parents and grandparents have bequeathed to us."

Javier Arza Valdés, professor at the University of the Computer Sciences (UCI), was also chosen direct delegate to the 9th Congress of the Young Communist League.

The presentation of this 25-year-old young man occurred during the celebration of the International Students' Day on Tuesday at Mella Square, in that university city.  

Javier is admired and loved by his students and collegues, and it was a fact that to interview him it was necessary to make our way toward him amid a crowd, that was greeting this grateful, moved and happy young man. (Taken from Granma).
