Caracas, Nov 10.- The President of the Cuban Parliament, Ricardo Alarcon said on Tuesday in Caracas, that the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba remains intact under the Barack Obama administration.
In recent months, fines against US and foreign firms continue in place for having ties with Cuba, said Alarcon during the Dossier program of Venezolana de Television.
He recalled the Obama himself has ruled out changes in Washington’s policy against Cuba applied since February of 1962, which according to conservative figures have inflicted loses of 96 000 dollars.
Obama has said it clearly, despite statements made Secretary of State Hillary Clinton admitting on several occasions that Washington’s Cuba policy has failed, said the president of the Cuban parliament.
We are dealing with a more intelligent and subtle administration compared to the past George W. Bush administration, with a different way of saying things, but the policies are the same.
Alarcon stressed that the only changes Obama has carried out was the elimination of travel restrictions for Cuban Americans to visit their relatives and family remittances.
Regarding the recent UN General Assembly vote in favor of the Cuban Resolution demanding an end to the blockade, both Alarcon and the Dossier program director commented the overwhelming defeat suffered by Washington. (Taken from Radio Habana Cuba)
