Reading for the second time a reflection by Cuban leader, Fidel Castro, Another argument for the Manifesto, I wrote down some of his ideas that I want to share with you, because although these reflections were published in the year 2007, they have a lasting validity.
A process of assemblies conducted by the Young Communist League (UJC), prior its 9th Congress, is a suitable moment to reaffirm the ideals of the leader of the Cuban Revolution about the permanent need of defending the Revolution with ideas, and with power of the arms if necessary.
On this concept Fidel said, “Our battle of ideas will not cease as long as the current imperialist, hegemonic and unipolar system is still in place and remains a scourge of humanity and a mortal threat to the survival of our species. ” And he adds “The Cuban Revolution does not merely confide in the moral integrity and patriotic and revolutionary spirit of its people, and in the survival instinct of the human species, whose very existence is threatened. It also believes and confides in the traditional idealism of the American people that can only be led into unjust wars and shameful aggressions through vulgar deceit.”.
In his answer to the message of the Young Communist League Fidel Castro warned those who think that our country will return to the past “Cuba is impregnable, its Revolution is indestructible, its people will never bow down or surrender”.
In this battle the Cuban youth plays a leading role that is strengthened by the process of assemblies, prior the UJC 9th Congress which will be held on April, 2010. The young participants will evaluate what has been done so far, the difficulties and the actions the communist youth should do to continue as the leading force in the building of the social project started on January 1st, 1959, which the youth is and will always be committed with.
